Why should you use all 13 tags?
Every unused tag is a query your listing cannot match. Etsy compares the shopper's query against titles, tags, categories and attributes, so each additional relevant tag adds another entry point without harming the others.
Should Etsy tags be single words or phrases?
Phrases. Etsy prefers an exact match on a multi-word tag over scattered single words, so "personalized dog collar" outperforms three separate tags of "personalized", "dog" and "collar".
Do duplicate tags and plurals help?
No. Repeating near-identical tags wastes slots, and Etsy already handles most plural and singular variations. Use the freed slots for occasions, recipients, styles and materials instead.
